Field trip to Tarcoles River and Nosavar farm

Last week our nature guides got together for a training field trip to Tarcoles River and Nosavar farm, located in the central pacific of Costa Rica. We saw an amazing diversity of raptors, 12 different species, including Peregrine Falcon, Bat Falcon, Osprey, Hook-billed Kite, Double-toothed Kite, Short-tailed Hawk and Zone-tailed Hawk! Besides we explored the mangroves, roosting and nesting site for the endangered Scarlet Macaw. Nosavar – and hour and a half drive from SJO- is our new option for Tarcoles boat river exploration tours, it has a very nice open restaurant, that is used as a base for a tractor ride to the river dock, where boats are ready for nature and bird watching tours. Other wildlife we saw: dozens of American Crocodiles, Jesus Christ Lizards and large Green Iguanas basking in the trees, plus many waterbirds and shorebirds. Definitely a great place to experience!
