Volacan Turrialba

Volacan Turrialba

On Wednesday night our own Turrialba Volcano erupted shortly after 11:30 p.m, in what local officials are calling the most significant eruption of the volcano in 150 years. The activity has continued since, and ash fall was recorded as far away as the city of Heredia in the early morning hours Thursday.
The volcano, located east of San Jose, has been active for a few years now. Here in San Jose we woke up yesterday with the smell of sulfur and ash covering some of our employee’s vehicles, however, the activity subsided during the course of the day.
The area around the volcano is sparsely populated, furthermore, there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
We will keep you updated should the eruptions continue.
