Travel to this indigenous community includes an hour-and-a half boat ride through rainforest and farms along the Telire River where your local-native guide will explain the region’s culture, history and traditions. The people of the Yorkin Reservation are members of the Bribri community, one of eight indigenous groups that still reside in Costa Rica. On your visit you will learn how the indigenous people live today, including how they use rainforest plants for medicine, which crops they raise, and how they process chocolate from the fruit of the cacao plant. All the indigenous community’s eco-tourism projects are run by the local women.
