Certain areas in Costa Rica like Osa Peninsula, Tortuguero are not accessible by car. Also though distances look short on a map the time to cover these distances can be very long due to road conditions, traffic and other things related to ground transfers or driving your own rental car.

SHUTTLE TRANSFERS are subcontracted services whereby travelers join others on a bus traveling on a fixed schedule and route, allowing only one or two brief stops en route. These stops are usually at transfer junctions where some passengers traveling to different destinations may need to change buses.

There is a limit to the amount of luggage carried on board; generally only one carry on and one larger suitcase are allowed with the shuttle transfer.
