Aerial Tram - Cahuita
Enjoy the unique view of the rainforest's canopy on an Aerial Tram!

Pick up at your hotel for the 50-minute drive past Braulio Carillo National Park and the Rio Sucio Bridge, to the 1000-acre private nature reserve, where the Aerial Tram is located. An open-sided vehicle will shuttle guests 1.5 km to the Aerial Tram Visitor's Center. Guests will first go on an introduction rainforest walk prior to boarding the tram cars for a 1.3 km aerial excursion. The ride will stop several times as passengers board at two different stations. The round-trip takes approximately 2 hours for the trams to glide on a breathtaking journey-below, through, and above the canopy. Lunch is included on site after which you will return to your San Jose hotel. After onsite lunch at the Rain Forest Café, you will continue along the Atlantic coastline to Cahuita or Puerto Viejo.

Banana Plantation - Cahuita

Pick up at your hotel for drive past Braulio Carillo National Park and the Rio Sucio bridge for a visit to a Banana Plantation in the Atlantic lowlands. Most everyday, you will be able to see the process of harvesting and packaging of bananas in a working plantation. Banana export is one of the most important economic activities of Costa Rica placing us among the largest producers and exporters of Latin America.
After the visit the plantation enjoy lunch en route, then continue to Limon and down south along the Atlantic coastline to Cahuita or Puerto Viejo.

Poás / Sarchí - Central Pacific
Experience a bird's eye view of the crater of the Poas Volcano!
The Poás Volcano is one of the world's largest geysers with an awesome crater, over 1.5 km wide! The volcano is active, but completely safe for viewing. This tour begins with a beautiful drive through the lush coffee plantations and flower farms of the area. In addition to the volcano, the Poás National Park is a 9,884-acre reserve with rich tropical vegetation and animal life. The tour includes a hike through the surrounding forest that is teeming with exotic plant life and exotic birds. The hike concludes at a restful, emerald green, tropical lagoon. After the visit to the volcano, continue to Grecia, where you will see the rare and beautiful architecture of the famous metal church. Next, you will tour the fascinating craftsman factories of Sarchí, where the famous oxcarts of Costa Rica are built. Splendidly decorated and in various sizes, these oxcarts are treasured worldwide for their unique beauty. You won't be able to leave Costa Rica without one!

La Paz Waterfall - Arenal

Feel the rush of five different magnificent waterfalls at La Paz.Your journey begins by driving to the city of Alajuela which has the second largest population in the country. Then you will assent to the Poas Volcano National Park; the volcano's diameter is considered one of the widest in the world. Enjoy a quick hike on a trail leading to the Botos Lagoon (an extinct crater), where many different ecosystems exist and where some of the many species of flora and fauna of this cloud forest can be observed. After visiting the volcano, you will continue towards the Caribbean, stopping en route to discover La Paz Waterfall Gardens, a nature park with several different waterfalls. At the park you will also witness the enclosed butterfly observatory with a beautiful collection of tropical butterflies. The tour heads to Sarapiquí after lunch. Upon arrival at Puerto Viejo (Old Port), relax and absorb the scenery of monkeys, iguanas, crocodiles, and birds while aboard a boat which will cruise down the Sarapiqui River. On the way back to San Jose, you will drive through the unforgettable rainforest of Braulio Carrillo National Park, one of the most important rainforest reserves in Costa Rica.

OTS La Selva
This privately funded research station has become a model for many others to follow!
Transfer to the Atlantic lowlands of Sarapiqui for a visit to La Selva Station, an internationally recognized center for tropical rainforest research and education. La Selva is owned and operated by the Organization of Tropical Studies (OTS), a non-profit consortium of more than 50 educational institutions in the United States and Costa Rica. La Selva provides a 3-hour guided hike through the private reserve, where you will have the chance to see over 300 species of birds and other wildlife. Enjoy lunch at the OTS or in the nearby town of Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui. Afternoon return to San Jose.
