Feeling with Reggae Music at a beautiful Caribbean beach.

where our driver is already waiting for you and will
take you to your hotel. Overnight at Hotel Bougainvillea.
(No meals)
Sept. 23: Early morning pick up at your hotel and transfer
towards the Caribbean side of Costa Rica. You'll depart
San José early in the morning, stopping for a
delicious breakfast, at the Ríos Tropicales Operations
Center, before arriving at the river. Once at the river,
your friendly and professional guides will load your
gear into dry bags, prepare the equipment and give you
complete safety and paddle instruction. The first day's
Class III rapids welcome you to the Pacuare gorge's
charm as you raft deep in the heart of primary rainforest.
While your guides prepare you a hearty picnic lunch
on the riverbank, you'll be led through the jungle to
an enchanting waterfall and pool to swim.
Before you know it, you'll arrive at the award-winning
Ríos Tropicales Lodge where you can spend the
afternoon relaxing, hiking or soaking in our waterfall
and pools. Nestled in the jungle on our 1,000-acre private
reserve, the lodge offers you all the comforts you need
in "Cabecar Indian" style bungalows. Private
single and double rooms are spacious with clean linen,
and there are modern bathrooms and showers. Electricity
is generated by a self-sufficient hydro-plant. Happy
Hour will put you in the mood for a tropical evening,
followed by a luscious candlelight dinner with wine
served by your guides. (BLD)
Sept. 24: After a hearty breakfast and loading the rafts,
you'll prepare to paddle down the Pacuare gorge passing
gushing waterfalls, serene pools and pounding rapids.
A snack stop by the riverside lets you explore more
waterfalls and natural waterslides. An adrenaline-packed
afternoon running rapids like Upper and Lower Huacas,
Cimarron, Dos Montañas and many more, will have
you cheering ecstatically. Hot lunch will be served
at the Ríos Tropicales Operations Center. Showers,
changing rooms, cold and hot drinks and snacks are also
available. Here you will be picked up by your guide
of Costa Rica Sun Tours who will take you to Limón,
where you will spend the night at a Hotel near Limón.
(BLD)
Sept 25: Today is Columbus Day in Costa Rica. Columbus
Day is celebrated in Limón as it is throughout
Latin America, but with a fervor and style that correspond
to Carnival on the islands. Home cooking, heavy on fish,
tripe, rice, coconut, and stews with cow's feet, is
less than familiar to other Costa Ricans. Religion is
a vibrant part of the lives of the black population,
and not the formality that it is to the broad class
of Hispanic Costa Ricans.
You will leave your hotel with your guide after breakfast
to watch the parades in the streets of the center of
Limón. For lunch our guide will take you to a
typical restaurant. When the parades are over our guide
will show you around Limón and take you to the
harbor. In the evening you return to your hotel. Overnight
stay at a hotel near Limón. (BLD)
Sept. 26: Right after breakfast you will leave Limón
and continue your trip along the South Caribbean Coast
towards Cahuita. Cahuita National Park has beaches as
beautiful as any on the Caribbean, and a few additional
distinctions. Just offshore is a living coral reef,
the most accessible in Costa Rica, where brightly colored
fish feed and breed. In the marshes and forests of the
park, animal and bird life are abundant. Cahuita's protected
area includes extensive areas of marsh. The Perezoso
(Sloth) River that flows to the sea in the park is dark
brown in color, said to be an effect of the high tannin
concentration, which also reputedly keeps a cap on the
local mosquito population. The forests are alive with
howler monkeys, white-faced monkeys, three-toed sloth,
anteaters, and collared peccaries. Raccoons and coatis
are often seen along the nature trail, which penetrates
the damp world of ferns and bromeliads and huge jungle
trees. In the late afternoon you will continue your
trip to Puerto Viejo, where you will be staying at a
nice Caribbean style hotel. In the evening your guide
will take you out for dinner in Puerto Viejo. (BLD)
Sept. 27: Day at your own disposal in Puerto Viejo.
You may relax at the beach or take an optional snorkeling
trip (not included). Those of you who cannot get enough
of nature and wildlife in Costa Rica may optionally
visit the Gandoca Manzanillo National Park (not included)
south of Puerto Viejo with your guide. Overnight stay
at a nice Caribbean style hotel. (BD)
Sept. 28: You have the morning to relax at the beach
and start your trip back to San José before noon.
On the way you will stop for a delicious lunch. At night
your guide will take you out for a typical night in
Costa Rica. Overnight at hotel Posada Canal Grande,
a small Italian style hotel with a beautiful view over
the central valley. (BLD)
Sept. 29: Today a driver of Costa Rica Sun Tours will
take you back to the airport for your departure flight.
Please keep US $ 26 airport tax per person handy that
you will have to pay before you can check in. Since
international airlines require you to be 3 hours in
advance at the airport, you should have enough time
for some last-minute shopping in the different souvenir
and duty free shops inside the airport. Have a pleasant
flight home with a lot of fantastic memories of our
beautiful country. (B)
