The Corcovado Canopy Tour is comprised of thirteen elevated platforms connected in a series by long, thick cables. You’ll traverse across the forest canopy using a safety harness attached to a pulley that rolls along the cables. The height of each platform varies, however the highest will bring you over 30 meters (98 ft.) above the forest floor. The cables range from 190 meters (623 ft.) up to 400 meters (1,312 ft.) in length! This is a fun and exciting way to experience the tropical forest-among the tree tops and “flying” through them! Excellent place for wildlife observation, monkeys, macaws and toucans are possible.

Caño Island is located just 12 nautical miles from Drake Bay. The boat trip out to the island is a very scenic ride that takes about 45 minutes. En route you may encounter flying fish, dolphins, or possibly whales! The water in front of the beach has a variety of colorful tropical fish and is great for snorkeling or diving. In addition to swimming and sunbathing, you can hike with your guide on the island to explore the interior. The island once had an indigenous cemetery but this was plundered long ago before it was established as a reserve. However large pieces of mysterious indigenous stone spheres can still be observed here. The forest harbors “milk trees” that have a… Continue reading →

Corcovado National Park has been cited by National Geographic as “one of the most biologically intense places on earth.” Visitors to this park quickly discover why. The shores of the wilderness beaches remain essentially untouched. The forest is dominated by ancient, massive trees many of which are draped with thick lianas (woody vines). The park hosts all four of Costa Rica’s monkeys (this is the only region where this occurs). From the treetops near the coast, brilliant scarlet macaws screech loudly overhead. The park is home to a large variety of birds and wildlife including very secretive animals such as jaguars, tapirs, and white-lipped peccaries that are occasionally seen. With your guide, you will hike on trails that begin on… Continue reading →
