Rica Family Exploration
Day
1: Upon your arrival in Costa Rica you will
be met and taken to your hotel.
Days 1 - 2: 1-night accommodation
at a Hotel in or near San Jose.
Days 2: Morning drive to Poás
Volcano, whose colorful main crater is one of the
widest and deepest in the world. After exploring the
park drive to the Central Pacific Coast. (BLD).
Days 2 - 4: 2 nights accommodations at a
Hotel near the Central Pacific Coast.
Days 3: Pacific Aerial Tram. Board the tramcars
for an aerial excursion through and above the airy
canopy of the rainforest. Afternoon hike Carara National
Park home to parrots, parakeets, toucan, trogons,
Scarlet Macaws, and three species of monkeys (B.D).
Days 4: Drive to Monteverde, one
of the most diverse and richest tropical cloud forests
in the New World. In the afternoon hike a trail with
a series of suspension bridges. (BD).
Days 4 - 6: 2 nights accommodation
at a Lodge in the Monteverde area.
Day 5: Morning walk the Monteverde Reserve,
home to the Resplendent Quetzal and hundreds of birds,
mammals and plant species. Dusk/evening forest night
tour. (B.D).
Day 6: Morning depart for Arenal.
(BD).
Day 6 - 8: 2 nights accommodation
in Arenal at a Hotel or Lodge in the Arenal Volcano
area.
Day 7: Morning guided walk of Arenal
Volcano National Park. Afternoon enjoy a hike to La
Fortuna Waterfall. (B.D).
Day 8: Depart for San Jose, stopping
en route at the La Paz Waterfall Gardens to view magnificent
waterfalls and one of the largest Butterfly Observatory
in the world. (BL) .
Day 8 - 9: 1-night accommodation
at a Hotel in or near San Jose.
Day 9: Departure transfer for your
International flight home.

Tropical Birding
Day 1: Upon your arrival in Costa Rica
you will be met and taken to your hotel.
Days 1 - 2: 1 nights accommodation
at a Hotel in or near San Jose.
Days 2: Early morning birding at the
majestic Poas Volcano and La Paz Waterfall Gardens.
After lunch depart for the lowland rainforest area of
Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui. (B.L.D).
Days 2 - 4: 2 nights accommodation at a Lodge
in the Sarapiquí area.
Days 3: Birding at La Selva - research station
and biological reserve of the Organization for Tropical
Studies and one of the country's best birding destinations.
(B.L.D).
Days 4: Depart for Cerro de la Muerte
via Braulio Carrillo National Park (B.D).
Days 4 - 6: 2 nights accommodation
at a Lodgein the Cerro de la Muerte area.
Day 5: Full day of birding, seek out birds
such as the Timberline Wren, Volcano Junco, Wren thrush,
Long-tailed Silky Flycatcher, and Flame Throated Warbler
endemic to these high elevations at Savegre's mountain
oak forests. This area of tropical alpine vegetation
is home to the Resplendent Quetzal and Emerald Tucanet.

Day 6: Depart heading south towards
Dominical and the Central Pacific Coast. (B.D).
Day 6 - 9: 3 nights accommodation at
a Hotel near the Carara area.
Day 7: Full day of birding at Carara
National Park, home to parrots, parakeets, toucan, trogons,
three species of monkeys, and Scarlet Macaws. Carara
contains flora and fauna from both the hot dry northwest,
and the rainy region of the southwest. (B.L.D).
Day 8: Morning at the Villa Lapas Sky
Way - a combination of natural trails and hanging bridges.
In the afternoon enjoy an exciting boat ride along the
Tarcoles River and Guacalillo Estuary where you will
have the opportunity to see crocodiles and a variety
of birds. (B.D).
Day 9: Morning birding at La Ensenada
- a dry tropical forest and wetlands area at the edge
of the Golfo de Nicoya. Late afternoon return to your
hotel near San José (B.L).
Day 9 - 10: 1 nights accommodation
at a Hotel in or near San Jose.
Day 10: Departure transfer for your
International flight home. (B).
