Natural History Tour of Costa Rica
Day
1: Upon your arrival in Costa Rica you will
be met and taken to your hotel.
Days 1 - 2: 1 nights accommodation
at Hotel in or near San Jose.
Days 2: Early morning pick up at
your hotel for the scenic drive to the canals lining
the Atlantic Coast where you board a boat for the
trip up the Tortuguero Canals through 50 km of tropical
rain forest. (B.L.D).
Days 2 - 4: 2 nights accommodations in Tortuguero
at a local lodge.
Days 3: Today there are 2 two-hour boating
trips through the backwater canals. (B.L.D).
Days 4: Today's flights takes us
to the Pacific Coast and Tiskita, a private rain forest
reserve. While at Tiskita you can hike through reforested
areas into virgin rainforest, cool off in fresh water
jungle pools, explore miles of isolated beaches, swim
in the ocean or swimming pool, or walk to the nearby
village. (BLD).
Days 4 - 7: 3 nights accommodation
at Tiskita Jungle Lodge. Included during your stay
are two guided tours of the private rain forest reserve
& the exotic tropical fruit farm. On the grounds
of the lodge you can see over 285 species of birds,
3 species of monkeys, sloth, and coatimundi. (3B.3L.3D).
Day 7: Morning flight to San José,
then drive to Arenal Volcano via La Paz Waterfall
Gardens. (B.L.D).
Day 7 - 8: 1 nights accommodation
at the Arenal Observatory - volcano view rooms. The
lodge, located within the national park, offers spectacular
views of the volcano's imposing profile and Lake Arenal.
The property encompasses acres of untouched rainforest,
and is home to hundreds of species of birds and wildlife.
Day 8: Morning guided walk of Arenal
Volcano National Park. Mid-morning depart for Monteverde
(B.D).
Day 8 - 10: 2 nights accommodations
at a Lodge in Monteverde.
Day 9: Morning guided walk through
the Monteverde Reserve, one of the most diverse and
richest tropical cloud forests in the New World. Enjoy
an afternoon walk along a series of suspended bridges.

Day 10: Morning wildlife observation
prior to departing for San Jose via Sarchi. (B).
Day 10 - 11: 1 nights accommodation
at Hotel in or near San Jose.
Day 11: Departure transfer for your

Tropical
Garden Tour of Costa Rica
Day
1: Upon your arrival in Costa Rica you will
be met and taken to your hotel.
Days 1 - 3: 2 nights accommodation
in Santo Domingo at Hotel Bougainvillea.
Days 2: Tour Lankaster Botanical
Gardens. The gardens display more than 1400 different
species of orchids, as well as bromeliads, aroids,
heliconias, gingers, musaceas, cacti, ferns and several
varieties of trees. Afternoon enjoy the hot springs
at Valle Caliente in the Orosi Valley and tour a coffee
mill. (BL).
Days 3: Today's flights takes us to the Pacific
Coast and Tiskita, a 550 acre private rain forest
reserve overlooking an endless expanse of pristine
beach and tropical rainforest. In this veritable Eden,
walk among the palms, bromeliads, cycads, heliconias,
ornamental plants and wild orchids. On the reserve
is an experimental fruit farm with over a 100 varieties
including carambola, guanabana (soursop) mangoes,
pineapples, mangosteen, and anona. Guided walks are
offered to all guests built around themes such as
light gap theory, seed dispersal or tropical diversity.
The guide will help you find and identify plants,
as well as mammals, birds, reptiles and butterflies
and help you understand their usefulness to man and
the environment. (BLD).
Days 3 - 5: 2 nights accommodation
at Tiskita Jungle Lodge including daily meals and
activities. (2B2L2D).
Days 5: Morning flight to San José,
then drive to the mountain town of Monteverde. Cool,
misty Monteverde Cloud Forest stretches from the lush
ferns and mosses that cover the ground to the dark
canopy formed by the tallest trees. En route visit
a private orchid collection (BLD).
Day 5 - 7: 2 nights accommodations at a Lodge
in the Monteverde area.
Day 6: Morning guided walk through
the Monteverde Reserve, one of the most diverse and
richest tropical cloud forests in the New World. Enjoy
an afternoon walk along a series of suspended bridges.

Day 7: Morning visit the Monteverde
Orchid Gardens, then depart for Arenal, one of the
world's most active volcanoes. (B.D).
Day 7 - 9: 2 nights accommodation

in the Turrialba area.
Days 3 - 4: 2 days of rafting Class
III-IV /1night Pacuare River Camp. Along the tropical
river course lay densely vegetated gorges and some

Days 4: Mid-afternoon take-out and

Day 4 - 5: 1 night accommodation at a Hotel
in the Guapiles area.
Day 5: Overland transfer to the canal/river
system for a day of kayaking through lush forest with
amazing flora & fauna. (B.L.D) .
Day 5 - 7: 2 nights accommodations
at a Lodge in the Tortuguero area.
Day 6: Shuttle to Samay Lagoon for
a morning of kayaking. Afternoon boat tour of the
backwater canals. (BLD).
Day 7: Flight to San Jose and from
San Jose to Quepos. On arrival transfer to your hotel.

in Manuel Antonio area Hotel.
Day 8: Half-day tour of Manuel Antonio
National Park. Manuel Antonio is one of the country's
most popular parks because of its unique mix of beaches
and forest trails. Afternoon tree top canopy tour

Day 9: Overland drive to San Jose
includes a stop and guided hike of Carara National
Park. (BL).
