Day 1: Early morning pick-up at your San José hotel for transfer to airport for domestic flight to Puerto Jimenez near the southern tip of the Osa Peninsula on the Golfo Dulce. From Puerto Jimenez proceed overland (45 minutes one way) to Lapa Rios. Lapa Rios, perched on a hill overlooking the ocean, is the ultimate upscale jungle lodging, complete with swimming pool and gourmet dining. The 1,000 acre private rainforest reserve and nearby Corcovado National Park are home to more than 285 species of birds, 139 mammals, and 116 amphibians and reptiles. Overnight stay in Lapas Rios. Days 2 - 3: Spend two days exploring the area. The variety of trails allows you to hike as much or as little as you choose (guided hikes not included in price). Enjoy the tropical rainforest, waterfalls and pools for swimming, beach and tide pools or bird watching from your veranda. (BLD)
