The Monteverde El Trapiche (sugar mill) Tour is run by a local family who will show you not only the sugar making process, but also farm culture in Costa Rica. The tour also demonstrates how coffee and other crops are grown on the farm.   Since there are always many chores to be done on the farm your hosts have made the tour partly ‘hands-on’. Your guide will walk with you through the farm’s small forest and bring you to a pond where you can feed tilapia fish or you can pick coffee if it is in season. Your guide will explain about life on a small Costa Rican farm as you walk along and see the different crops being grown.  At the end of the tour, you can take an ox cart ride back to the main building – a unique Costa Rican experience!
