- Campesinos Reserve (full day): Driving toward the mountains of Talamanca, 45 minutes from Quepos-Manuel Antonio, is the town of Londres. The hike covers a total of 7 kms starting on an old farm road then passing many creeks and waterfalls inside untouched rainforests. The Waterfalls Canopy Tour is located just outside Jaco near Carara National Park. The Canopy Tour consists of 13 platforms, 7 zip lines, a Tarzan Swing, a 3 story tree house, suspension bridges and a 90 foot rappel. Transportation, equipment and local guides are included.

You will be picked up in the morning at your hotel and transferred to board a custom-built, flat-bottomed river boat. You will then glide along the calm river observing the variety of wildlife while your guide explains what you are seeing. After visiting the river mouth, you will venture up a mature mangrove estuary where your guide will inform you about this remarkable ecosystem. Your guide will discuss with you the ecology and native plant species of this transitional zone habitat.

You will be picked-up at your hotel for a ½ day outrigger Kayak Trip. Before you start you will be given a short briefing and safety talk and then you will be ready to paddle! The ocean is calm at Playa Agujas allowing you to gently paddle for 30 to 40 minutes along spectacular cliffs filled with pelicans and frigate birds to one of the beaches. Here you can stop to swim and go snorkeling if the water is clear. You will be picked-up at your hotel for a half-day tour of Manuel Antonio National Park. Located on the Pacific Coast, Manuel Antonio has light sandy beaches, forest growing to the beach edge, and abundant wildlife including monkeys, sloths, iguanas, birds, agoutis, colorful orange and black crabs, and more. Tour includes roundtrip transportation from your hotel, park entrance fees, and local guide. (Note: Manuel Antonio Park is closed Mondays) If you would like to stay in the park to snorkel or swim, you will need to return to your hotel by bus, hotel shuttle, or taxi on your own.

This morning/afternoon with your group and guide enjoy a hike in the Carara National Park. Carara has a transitional climate and contains flora and fauna from both the hot dry northwest, and the rainy region of the southwest. Carara’s habitat includes marshes, primary and secondary forests, and is home to parrots, parakeets, toucans, trogons, scarlet macaws, anteaters, agoutis, monkeys and more. Huge American Crocodiles also bask along the embankments of the nearby Tarcoles River that runs near the entrance of the reserve.

The Rio Savegre is a beautiful river that descends through pristine forests from the high Talamanca Mountains down to the pacific coast. In its lower stretches it forms rapids that are classed as level III and IV suitable and fun for adventurous rafters with little or no experience. Your tour begins with an early morning pick-up at your hotel and then a very scenic drive into remote backcountry to the river’s put-in point. After a short briefing and safety talk, you are then off to proceed down river with your guide! There are great swimming holes to enjoy en route, and always a chance to see wildlife along the river. The tour includes transportation, rafting guides, equipment & lunch.
Half Day
Sail through the treetops and over the trails far below you on the Canopy Safari adventure tour! This “zip line” forest canopy tour consists of a series of platforms and cables in tall trees. In this tour you are fitted with a harness attached to a pulley that connects to the cables and allows you to glide rapidly through the forest canopy landing on the platforms in between! It is a lot of fun! It also gives one a completely different perspective of the forest previously available only to a few researchers and photographers. The tour includes roundtrip transfers & lunch.
Half Day
In the comfort of a covered boat, you will slowly enter the little-known watery realm of a tropical mangrove forest while your guide skillfully navigates through the canals and points out interesting features of this very important, complex ecosystem. The unusual vegetation is adapted to living in the tidal zone, a constantly changing environment between dry land and the open ocean. Here you will likely also see a variety of wildlife. You may encounter white-faced monkeys, colorful tree-climbing crabs, numerous species of water and forest birds, and more.
